What this MCP does

Searches UK court judgments and tribunal decisions and retrieves judgment text, metadata, and available press summaries.

caselaw-get-judgment-0a5
Get structured metadata and a paragraph slice from a specific UK court judgment. Returns case name, court, judgment date, neutral citation, judges, parties, and a 'paragraphs' list of {n, text} objects from the body. By default returns the first 20 paragraphs; use 'max_paragraphs', 'start_paragraph', and 'end_paragraph' to read further into long judgments. The response always includes 'total_paragraphs' so you know how much remains, and 'next_start_paragraph' so a follow-up call continues where this one stopped.

Input schema
{'type': 'object', 'required': ['document_uri'], 'properties': {'document_uri': {'type': 'string', 'description': "Court-path document URI as returned in the 'document_uri' field on judgment search results. Examples: 'ewca/crim/2026/385', 'ukftt/tc/2026/324', 'ewhc/ch/2026/357'. Marklogic internal identifiers (values starting with 'd-' followed by a UUID, surfaced as 'internal_id' on search results) are not valid here; only court-path URIs resolve at the upstream /data.xml endpoint."}, 'end_paragraph': {'type': 'integer', 'minimum': 1, 'description': "Last paragraph to include (1-indexed, inclusive). Optional. When omitted, the slice spans 'max_paragraphs' paragraphs starting at 'start_paragraph'. The slice cannot extend past 'start_paragraph + max_paragraphs - 1'; values beyond that are clamped to the cap."}, 'max_paragraphs': {'type': 'integer', 'maximum': 200, 'minimum': 1, 'description': "Maximum number of paragraphs included in the 'paragraphs' field. Default 20, hard cap 200. For continued reading beyond the cap, callers page with 'start_paragraph' / 'end_paragraph' rather than raising this value."}, 'start_paragraph': {'type': 'integer', 'minimum': 1, 'description': "First paragraph to include (1-indexed). Default 1. The 'next_start_paragraph' value in the response of a prior call carries the natural continuation index for sequential reading."}}}
caselaw-get-press-summary-0a5
Get the National Archives press summary for a judgment. Press summaries are short, plain-English overviews written for general audiences, primarily for landmark Supreme Court (uksc) and Privy Council (ukpc) cases. Returns the same paragraph-slice shape as the get-judgment tool so it can be paged the same way. Most judgments do NOT have a press summary; when one is unavailable, the response is structured success with 'available: false' and 'reason: "no_press_summary"' rather than an error — try the main judgment instead.
